The Australian Talent ID swimmers consisting of 11 swimmers aged 13 to 16 years of age compete successfully in the New Zealand Spring Championships. Australia was also represented by Masters swimmer Donella Freeman who was preparing for the World Masters Championships. Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia were all represented in the team events. Queensland had three representatives in the Squad. Well done girls!! Australian results are: |

2011 AUSTRALIAN OPEN AND AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS Queensland has retained the Australian Championship Shield and was also awarded the Australian Participation Shield at the Australian Open and Age Group Championships held in Brisbane on the 23rd and 24th April 2011. BRONZE TO AUSTRALIA - Eloise Amberger and Sarah Bombell Eloise Amberger and Sarah Bombell have won Bronze at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games in the Duet event of the Synchronized Swimming. The Australian Duet are both from Queensland. Congratulations must go to their coach, Marina Kholod who has been instumental in the girls success. Eloise and Sarah placed in the Bronze position behind Canada and England. Australia also placed 4th in the Solo event with Tarren Otte. Tarren placed 4th behind Canada, England and Scotland.

Eloise Amberger (23) and Sarah Bombell (27) have been selected to represent Australia in the Duet event at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games. Eloise and Sarah have been competing as a duet for the past 7 years. They have a matching Southern Cross tattoo on their foot and salute each other before competing and were both members of the Australian 2008 Beijing Olympic team. Eloise and Sarah are a firm medal chance at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi to be held on 6th and 7th October 2010 thanks not only to their strong training ethics, but the interesting and artistic choreography from their coach, Marina Kholod. Marina is the Australian Assistant coach and also coach at Gold Coast Mermaids Synchronized Swimming Club based at Southport, where Sarah and Eloise train regularly. Qld synchro wishes Sarah and Eloise good luck in Dehli.

Queensland dominates the Australian National Squads with 9 swimmers in the 11 member 2009-2010 National Squad, and 4 swimmers in the 6 member 2010 Commonwealth Games Squad. The Australian Assistant Coach is also from Queensland. The 2009-2010 National Squad comprises of:
The remainder of the squad is Liching Yew (NSW) and Tarren Otte (VIC). The squad is coached by Anna Nepotacheva (VIC) and Marina Kholod (QLD). The National Squad is hard at training, holding regular camps in preperation for the FINA World Cup to be contested in Shanghai, China in September 2010, World Championships in 2011 and the London Olympic Games in 2012. The 2010 Commonwealth Games Squad consists of Eloise Amberger, Sarah Bombell, Bianca Hammett and Samantha Reid, all from Gold Coast Mermaids, and Liching Yew (NSW) and Tarren Otte (VIC). The Commonwealth Games squad is heading off to Germany in March in final preperation before Commonwealth Games selections at the Australian Championships, Sydney in April. The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be held in Dehli in October. |

2009 AUSTRALIAN OPEN AND AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS Queensland had 13 swimmers representing 4 clubs at the Australian Open and Age Championships held in Melbourne from the 23rd -25th January 2009. The Queensland team won both the Championship Shield and the Participation Shield.
